I never expected to be what most would consider an active LJer. I try and check in on friends once a day, but I'll likely only post as the mood strikes me. Lately however I've been moved to start posts only to set them aside unfinished. Hopefully I'll have time to get back to them, but just now I'm busy struggling through my last essays due this week.

Why Iggy Spawn

To the overwhelming majority of people she knew, Anna would introduce me as her nephew born just after Iggy. This assertion was invariably followed by a moment of eye rolling. I've always assumed the rolling eyes were for Iggy. They were weren't they? Regardless, for me it's a fond memory and the inspiration behind the alias.

It's all Kate's fault!

My past experience with journals has been compulsory and unpleasant. Writing is not something I enjoy, nor do I consider myself especially skilled. I've recently gone back to school, and am confronted once again with compulsory journaling. Only this time it hasn't been nearly as painful. My writing skills need improvement and I've recognized and ignored this fact for so long simply because there's no enjoyment to motivate me. I've finally reached the point where I'm willing to make an effort for improvement. If I'm lucky I may have fun along the way but I realize that it needs to be done regardless.

Education aside I've also been finding myself increasingly out of the loop. Vague references to Jalapeno peppers and the like have been frustrating me with how out of touch I am. So here I am, perhaps my foray into LJ will help me improve myself and at the same time help me manage to stay in touch.

Still Kate, I blame you for this. ;-)
